The Professional Development Academy was launched in January 2005 with the support of an Economic and Workforce grant from the California State Chancellor's Office.
Professional Development Academy objectives are to:

Create uniform, employee-centered professional development training to meet the needs of employers and individuals in San Diego and Imperial Counties |

Create sustainable capacity for Community Colleges to serve businesses |
 |
Provide employers and individuals with a local, low-cost option to train their employees for "promotability" |
Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District leads the regional project, closely partnered with each of the six community college districts in San Diego and Imperial Counties. Regional offices are located at Cuyamaca College, 900 Rancho San Diego Parkway in El Cajon where grant activities are coordinated and a single point of contact is available for businesses and individuals looking for affordable answers to their training needs.
